This is a comic which will be used for a wedding invitation. I tried out a new inking method. It cuts time, which means I can spend more time on the drawing and colouring -hopefully leading to cooler looking artwork.

Coloured version of honeymoon comic
I'm getting a bit behind on this sketchblog. I built up a nice stack of sketches over the summer but the autumn weather is too horrible to sketch outside and work has been crazy lately. Still, have a coloured version of the honeymoon gift comic I sketched.
It was fun to draw. If you would like something similar feel free to contact me!

Trust in the Snow (woot!)
I have FINALLY FINISHED Trust in the Snow, a comic written by John Gunningham for the Christian comic anthology Parable 2, edited by Cow and Buffalo's Mike Maihack.
I'm really happy with it, it's taken me over a year. I should be cracking open a bottle of champagne as I write these words.
The main character is a man with a mysterious past and quixotic magical powers. He is compelled to wander, performing great acts of kindness to those that deserve it and teaching or punishing those who do not.I haven't drawn a fantasy story since my debut in online comics, about nine years ago.

Key to the Kingdom

I've just finished my artwork for KEY TO THE KINGDOM, written by Lee Robson. Here's a sample.
It's being published in Futurequake's Something Wicked.
I hand-coloured this strip in ink- digital art didn't seem appropriate, as it's a horror story.

The Key to the Kingdom character sketches

I'm so glad it's grayscale. I've been working on Trust in the Snow for over nine months now. That's all-singing, all dancing colour and texture but it's only ten pages long.
Gordon's Glasses , on the other hand, took me a weekend and a couple of evenings.

Choose your destiny...and language.

New British Comics, a Polish/English anthology featuring one of my comics, was reviewed here recently, very favorably. I quote:
If you can track down a copy of New British Comics then buy it. Give this ground-breaking project your support.
Should you wish to take the reviewer's advice and track down a copy, it is available directly from the website here* My personal favourite strip is Jackie Goes to Hell by Dan White, but Daniel Locke's understated ghost story No Word Of A Lie... was the story which stuck in my mind.
*Actually, it has been kindly pointed out that it isn't. Yet. Watch this space.

Oh dear.

This is an extremely geeky project: a Half-Life 2 fan comic. I'm usually too busy to play computer games but the ones I do play I get very attached to. I suspect I like Half-Life so much because I recently finished reading Y-The Last Man and then grafted the character dynamic of Yorick and 355 on to Alyx and Gordon.
For some reason, I also decided that Gordon is ginger.
I was impressed by how quickly these computer coloured greyscale pages can be produced. Maybe if I ever start a webcomic, this is a good way to go.
I call this sort of cover design a "Big Giant Head" cover.

Matilda, Sky Captain of Tomorrow

This is a one page A3 art piece/comic which I was commissioned to make for a birthday present.
My rate is £100 for a full color A3 comic and half that for black and white.
What do you get for that £100? A comic individually crafted to meet your sequential art needs, with as much or as little input as you like. It's like choose-your-own adventure books, but cooler.
Update: I ended up giving copies of this comic away for free at Mile End, which was a good way to promote my recent art, but also a good way to confuse people.
Alys (last panel) commissioned this comic for her boyfriend Orlando ( fifth panel) The brief was that it had to be about him and their daughter, and include if possible sausage dogs, some of her toys, chocolate, beer and prawn cocktail crisps.

Trust in the Snow

Here are two pages from the Parable comic I'm working on at the moment. I'm experimenting with texture, taking photos of wood and bits of ice and fiddling about with them in Photoshop.
Not sure how much more of this I'll be able to post, for spoilery reasons. The first volume of Parable hasn't even come out yet and this story is for the second volume.
