Natural History museum sketches

I went on a trip to London yesterday with some of our  students. There wasn't much time but managed to sketch a little bit in the Natural History Museum.  The first place I can remember sketching when I was younger is the blue whale hall, and it would be a cool place to visit even if it didn't have memories attached.

The figures at the top of the sketch are carved on the pillars and you will have noticed them if you've ever visited. The figures at the bottom of the pillars look like identifiable monkey species, they even have expressions and a lot of them smile. They look more like miserable, grim little people the further you get to the ceiling.
