Sketching the British Museum

Sketching at the British Museum, this time concentrating on the environment rather than the tourists or the exhibits. There is so much stuff in there picking and choosing among the exhibits is difficult.

As feet are supposed to be difficult to draw well Greek and Roman statues are good models to copy. This picture started off as a straightforward study but I drew in the  background because I liked the tourist with crazy hair. These feet are slightly stylised-look at all the angles in the toes.

The "Life and Death" gallery. Was quite calculating about this sketch- moving people around the help the composition and changing what was in the display cases according to how recognisable it was- the dogsled at the top right was actually in the next case along, out of the picture view, but it was cool to draw so went in.
